About Me

I fell in love with driving as a 10 year old, when my dad started taking us all on his interstate road trips. I thought he was the best driver in the world, and I couldn't wait to be behind the wheel of my very own car and drive like him.

I discovered Formula 1 several years later, and loved the sight of Michael Schumacher in his red cars.

I bought my first car, a cute little black 800cc Suzuki hatch, when I was 21, and loved darting in and out of traffic on pot-hole ridden roads in India.

I visited my first Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne in 2009, and witnessed a frustrated Sebastian Vettel climb out of his Red Bull after crashing with Kubica on Lap 56 of a 58 lap race.

And that was about the extent of my "motorsport experience" until the start of 2022, when I discovered grassroots racing at Melbourne's Sandown Race Track. I felt like Harry Potter on his first visit to Diagon Alley as I watched Porsches, Fords, Holdens and Formula Ford cars race each other in front of me! This was my kind of a magical world.

Since then, I've been dipping my 2012 R56 Mini Cooper D's 16 inch wheels into the sport and having the time of my life.

Why "Dark Racer"?

Yes, I put a bit of thought into choosing a racing name and Dark Racer seemed perfect for me. Here are my reasons:

1. It sounds cool, a bit like Darth Vader

2. The colour of my Mini Cooper is Black, which is of course, as dark as dark gets!

3. It’s a play on the “Dark Horse”: Someone overlooked and underestimated that takes leading racers by surprise.

4. I’m darker than the usual racer!

So there you go. Hope you enjoy travelling with me on my motorsport adventures!

xoxo

Dark Racer.
